Achievement Levels
A child can achieve awards in the following ways:
1) By setting a centre record (Blue certificate)
2) By recording season bests (sb’s) (White Certificate)
1st certificate awarded after 20 sb’s for the season. 2nd & further awarded every 5 more sb’s (eg at 25, 30 etc)
3) By accumulating performance points over the season. There are 4 performance levels which are progressively harder to achieve:
- Green Certificate awarded for a minimum of 10 green points
- Bronze Certificate awarded for a minimum of 10 bronze points
- Silver Certificate awarded for a minimum of 10 silver points
- Gold Certificate awarded for a minimum of 10 gold points
Every event has performance standards that match these levels. For example:
Gold Silver Bronze Green
U8 Girls 100m 18.50 secs 19.45 secs 20.30 secs 21.60 secs
So, if an U8 girl runs equal to or quicker than 20.30 secs but slower than 19.45 secs she will achieve 1 bronze point for that event.
If an athlete has scored 4 silver points & 6 bronze points during the season then they are eligible for a bronze award (because this is at least as good as 10 bronze points). The child may then be encouraged to try to achieve 6 more silver points in order to earn a Silver award.
All performance standards (Achievement Levels) are listed below for reference.
4) Discretionary awards are occasionally given out where the committee feels it is deserved. Eg, for good sportsmanship, 100% attendance etc.
