Tri- Series – These are interclub days held on Saturdays from 3.00pm (registrations), start (3.30pm) at the following venues…1) 25 Oct - Nambucca Heads, 2) 22 Nov – Nambucca Heads    , 3) 15 Feb – Glenreagh.

There are 5 age events at each Tri-Series event with points awarded for each event (similar to Pentathlon). Medals are awarded for the first 3 highest points getters in each age group boys and girls at the conclusion of the last Tri-Series (last year Sawtell/Toormina won 14 medals). It doesn’t matter if athletes can’t attend all 3 Tri-Series as the days are good fun days anyway and a chance to meet athletes from other centres and/or good practice for zone/region. Costs are $4 per athlete or $8 per family for each Tri-Series. Nominations can be made at Nambucca from 3pm on 25/10. Athletes must wear correct centre uniforms including 181 numbers. For people that have already paid your $ will be passed on.

Northern Rivers Zone Championships – PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

·         To be held Toormina Oval 13 and 14 Dec 2008.

·         Involves centres from Lismore in the north and Nambucca in the south.

·         A top 3 placing qualifies for Region 4 Championships in Newcastle 21 and 22 Feb 09.

·         Top at 3 at Region qualifies for State at Homebush 21 and 22 March 09.

·         Under 7s only go to Zone and Under 8s go to Region (get a State Medal if they place at this level. Under 9s to Under 17s to go to State .

·         We also need 4 relay teams Juniors Boys and Girls (U9, 10, 11 and 12) Senior Boys and Girls (U13, U14, U15 and U17). Relays will be selected on fastest 100m athlete entered in each age group as at Thursday 4 Dec.

·         Under 6s can go to Zone and do 5 non-competitive events and will receive a certificate for attending.

·         Cost is $6 per athlete (covers zone, region and state) and $5 for program (covers zone only).

·         In past years people tend to leave registering and paying to last moment which is very frustrating.

·         This year a form and is available from the canteen that needs to be completed, returned and paid for by 20 Nov Forms will include a program and envelope and must be returned with correct money by due date.

·         Please note entering athletes at Zone means you must assist with duty (ie helping run events) at Zone as well. Typically you should allow 2 to 3 hours for each child entered. Alternatively if parents are available on Friday 12 Dec to help with set up this can be down instead of duty.

·         Zone is a great weekend and we are likely to qualify 40 to 50 athletes for region, however please be aware they are long days (say 8am to 3 or 4pm) and your duty obligations must be done with no exceptions.

·         The club will set up shade so we can congregate together.

·         If you are not sure about entering please contact Greg Robson to discuss

Grading of Races – As opportunities arise athletes will be graded in races to ensure closer racing. For athletes U11+ this will occur across age groups. For other ages listing of times will be in the folder for age managers to sort out heats.

Correct Numbers – Please help by ensuring this year’s athlete number is used and not old numbers.

Car Park – People parking in no parking areas on Toormina Road are warned they are likely to be booked.

Outstanding Birth Certificates/baby books etcRecords indicate the following athletes are yet to produce records to verify date of birth – Natasha and Myles Wheatley, Chanel and Cooper Burow, Finn Troostwijk, Thomas Hansen, Rebecca Booth, Sefo and Lensa Lo Tam, Jyii Mann, Zane Boyle, Paige Bishop, Evan and Darcy Anderson, Josh Dorn, Sam White, Blake Andrews, Harley Kelly, Bethany and Noah Burns, Otto and Ulla Prowse, Paige and Vincent Cook, Alexa, Adrian and Jeremy Foster. Maddison and Courtney Ellem, Ben and Molly McKinnon. Please produce  Long Jump Recording – Please help by carrying forward the best performance into the “Best Trial” column. Discus and Shot Put recording – When measuring, the zero end of the tape should be held where the discus/shot landed. The tape is pulled through the centre of the circle with the measure taken where to the tape crosses the circle. Race Walking – On Thursday 23/10 Yvonne Melene (expert walks coach) will be providing some basic coaching to all Under 9s, 10s and 11s prior to them doing a race at the end of the day. This is one off opportunity so please encourage athletes to listen and pay the respect to Yvonne that she deserves. You never know there may be a star there somewhere. Dropping off Kids – There is evidence children are being dropped off on Thursday. It was made clear to parents on registration that a parent/guardian must be present to supervise and help out. Could age managers please ask athletes where there parent/guardian and if not present at ground please see Greg at the end of the day so follow up can occur. Placing at Finish line – Officials at the finish line do their best to get times and places correct. Sometimes errors occur. If 2 athletes are close at the finish line and they are put in the wrong order in doesn’t matter that much as times and not places are not recorded. If they crossed the finish line close their times will be close. Turbo Jav – Some ages are using the wrong implement. U6, U7 and U8 use Vortex (about 20cm and each to throw). U9, U10, U11 and U12 use Turbo Jav (looks more like a javelin about 70cm long). Please use correct item. Set Up – Any parents that are able to get to the track early (say 4.00pm) and help set up (simple jobs) please see Greg Robson. It would be great to establish a roster to share the work around. Little Aths Committee Meeting – 7.30pm, Tuesday 28 October (originally advertised as 21 Oct), Sawtell RSL Boardroom – Parents are welcome to come to our committee meeting. Meeting takes about an hour. Always looking for new ideas. Promise we won’t give you any jobs (unless you want one).
